Reactivate your dormant accounts with Georgeson’s help
Many people disregard or forget about small cash deposits in bank or building society accounts, or change their address and forget to notify their bank or building society. Accounts with larger amounts may become inactive because their account holders have died, and have left no record of their assets. Once these accounts have been inactive for a continuous period of three years, they are “classified” as dormant.
Locating dormant accounts is now a legal obligation for banks and building societies. The Government published an Unclaimed Assets consultation paper with the Spring 2007 budget, which requires banks and building to try and reactivate all the dormant accounts which they hold.
Our Dormant Accounts service will locate your dormant account holders, or their estates, and enable their accounts to be re-activated. This service can be provided to you at no charge and requires only minimal involvement.
Why Georgeson?
We have an outstanding track record of reactivating dormant accounts; see our Case Study of how we worked with Bradford & Bingley to locate and communicate with missing members who had still not claimed their entitlement following their demutualisation.Next steps
